Hygiene security charge in road logistics to be reintroduced effective from 17 January 2022

In spite of COVID-19, we guarantee safe and high-quality transport services, even though the prevailing situation has been reflected in our operations in many ways. Our drivers meet many people in the various stages of transport services, which means that high standards of personal protection are important for all of the parties involved.

In response to the rapid deterioration of the COVID-19 situation, we will reintroduce a hygiene security charge on Monday, 17 January 2022. The hygiene security charge, which is €1.90 per waybill, enables us to ensure the continued provision of transport services in a COVID-19 safe manner.

We take the special measures required by COVID-19 very seriously and closely follow the instructions issued by the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare and other authorities. We are already taking many safety precautions related to COVID-19:

  • We carry out transport planning and monitoring so that we can avoid situations which we know to pose a risk of COVID-19 infection.
  • We have continued to distribute face masks to drivers. Drivers use masks when necessary.
  • Our drivers maintain safe distances according to instructions.
  • We have distributed hand sanitiser for our cars.
  • We have emphasised the need to wear gloves.
  • We follow the COVID-19 instructions of our customers’ loading sites and recipients’ unloading sites.

The temporary hygiene security charge will apply to all sending customers in road logistics. The hygiene security charge will be discontinued when infection numbers and the resulting protective measures are at an appropriate level to allow normal operations. We will provide information on these changes separately.

The hygiene security charge will be removed from use on 1 October

The hygiene security charge introduced in domestic road logistics due to the COVID-19 epidemic will be removed from use on 1 October.

It has been necessary to provide our drivers with high-quality protection in many locations during transports, as they meet many people in their work when loading and unloading supplies for recipients and when processing papers. We have been able to ensure the health security of our drivers and to guarantee safe and high-quality transports even during the COVID-19 pandemic and want to thank also our customers for this.

Hygiene security charge

Safe transport despite the escalating coronavirus epidemic – hygiene security charge for domestic road logistics 2 November.

The situation caused by the coronavirus has affected our operations in many ways. However, the quality of our domestic road logistics has remained high during this challenging year. This is also thanks to our customers – transport is about teamwork.

In spite of the current exceptional situation, we aim to serve our customers in the best way possible and guarantee a safe, high-quality transport service. Our drivers meet many people in their work when loading and unloading supplies for recipients and when processing papers. This means that high-quality protection is necessary in many locations during transports. We are very grateful that our customers have taken our drivers into consideration in their operations and, for example, offered them the chance to wash their hands. Also, as the pace of transport has become faster, we appreciate giving drivers access to clean toilet facilities.

Our coronavirus-related hygiene safety work currently includes several procedures:

  • We carry out transport planning and monitoring so that we can avoid situations which we know pose a risk of infection.
  • We have continued to distribute face masks to drivers. Drivers use masks when necessary.
  • Our drivers keep safe distances according to instructions.
  • We have distributed hand sanitiser for our cars.
  • We have emphasised the need to wear gloves.
  • We follow all special instructions at different loading and unloading sites.

According to the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL), it appears the coronavirus epidemic is continuing to accelerate. We are currently operating very well under the exceptional circumstances. Due to the worsening coronavirus situation, we will implement a hygiene safety charge on Monday, 2 November. The charge will be EUR 1.90 per waybill, and it will help us ensure we deliver high-quality, coronavirus-safe transports. The temporary hygiene safety charge will apply to all domestic road logistics customers that send loads. The hygiene safety charge will be removed once the coronavirus situation allows us to return to normal operations. We will provide information about these changes separately.

We take the special measures required by the coronavirus very seriously and follow closely the instructions given by THL and other authorities.
