The Rail Regulatory Body has made a decision concerning VR’s service pricing related to the logistics and shunting work in frontier traffic

In its decision, the Rail Regulatory Body states that the new multi-operator environment has been a source of insecurity for VR in terms of the Railway Act’s applicability to the logistics and shunting work services related to frontier traffic and, for this reason, no clear rules are yet available for the creation of pricing models. The changes that the Rail Regulatory Body proposes to be applied to VR’s service pricing concerning the logistics and shunting work in frontier traffic are in many respects related to cost allocations or minor structural changes.

“We will now carefully review the Rail Regulatory Body’s decision. VR has already taken the initiative to adjust its pricing based on discussions with the Rail Regulatory Body. Our pricing has already been cost-reflective. The required changes are primarily related to cost allocation and, based on our evaluation, the changes will have no major effect on the actual prices,” says Senior Vice President Martti Koskinen from VR Transpoint.

The decision is related to the objections presented by Fenniarail Oy in relation to VR’s service pricing concerning the logistics and shunting work services in frontier traffic.
