Training ensures occupational safety
Extensive training is the foundation of occupational safety. Our employees are required to refresh their theoretical and practical knowledge at regular intervals.
All VR Transpoint employees who work in different fields are provided with the applicable basic training for their work. Regular refresher training sessions are used to maintain and develop professional skills in both rail and road logistics.
Rail logistics courses
Our rail logistics shunting yard employees are trained at the Kouvola railway and adult education institute KRAO. Permits for radio-controlled locomotives are granted by the Finnish Transport Safety Agency Trafi.
We ensure practical competence with systematic work orientation. We implement our work orientations primarily in real-life work environments and with real work equipment. All orientations are always provided by rail logistics work orientation specialists who have been trained in work orientation.
For those who work in rail traffic safety, we arrange Trafi-mandated refresher and further training sessions annually. In addition, our staff receive separate safety training for the work that they conduct at any of our customers’ or partners’ service points.
Road logistics courses
In road logistics, our expert educators train our drivers and contract carriers as well as their drivers according to the changing demands of the transport industry.
The Finnish Transport Safety Agency Trafi has granted VR Transpoint the right to act as a professional qualification training centre, which means that almost all of our training sessions also support the maintenance and development of our drivers’ expertise.
We arrange training sessions based on the needs and demands of the different divisions of our business operations. Our training utilises the skills of our own professionals as well as local expertise and other partners.
Our basic training includes e.g. the following subjects:
- Driver orientations
- Occupational safety card
- Forklift card
- Customer-specific work guidelines
- Load verification
